Kate gives first overseas speech in Malaysia 凱特王妃將海外第一次海外演講獻給馬來西亞

Britain’s Duchess Catherine made her first speech overseas today (13.09.12).

The brunette royal and her husband Prince William arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia this morning following a two-day tour of Singapore – and the Duchess of Cambridge insisted the couple were “hugely excited” to be in the country as part of their nine-day Diamond Jubilee tour of Asia.

Catherine toured a hospice in the Malaysian capital, where she addressed staff and patients and praised the work of Hospis Malaysia, a charitable organisation which cares for and supports terminally ill patients, saying such centres as “simply life changing”.

Speaking slowly through a PA system, she said: “Through this patronage, I have learnt that delivering the best possible palliative care to children is vital.

“Providing children and their families with a place of support, care and enhancement at a time of great need is simply life changing.

“With effective palliative care lives can be transformed. Treatment, support, care and advice can provide a lifeline to families at a time of great need.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also visited the Malaysian Prime Minster’s house, known as the Seri Perdana Complex, where she was given a bunch of flowers, and the pair were treated to a stunning display of Malaysian fruit.

The couple enjoyed a four-course lunch – which consisted of lobster salad and smoked salmon, nutmeg scented butternut pumpkin soup, and chocolate feuillantine dome with bourbon crème brulee and earl grey ice cream – in the dining room with the prime minister, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, and 50 of his friends.
